It was an attack on American civilians, airlines and symbols of power. It was specifically designed to make you and me, and all of America, feel powerless and vulnerable. Impotent we are not. Hatred and revulsion are not new in this world, they are ancient. Life's haters have powerful new ways to demonstrate their obsession with revenge and death. That's what is new. Our leaders will respond. Let's pray they get it right. Our attackers hope to survive undetected and surface again to wreak additional havoc. They hope our leaders will be driven by public opinion and their own outrage to maim and heedlessly injure the innocents terrorists hide among. They hope we will act as they did and unleash a compulsive response. Their (the terrorists') goal is ever more hatred, violence and destruction. Pray our leaders rise to this occasion.
